TREE POSE SIDE STRETCH
Here’s how to do it: Stand tall, drop the tailbone (don’t stick your butt out), draw the navel in towards the spine, shoulders back, hands to the side. Find your tree pose by placing the right foot on the left inner thigh or ankle (never ever on the knee!). Find your balance here, by gazing at a non-moving point in front of you. Once you’ve found stability lift the hands all the way up while keeping the shoulders relaxed. Ease the right hand down and around the waist as you lift up higher and stretch to the right side, moving just the upper body whilst keeping the lower body in place. The weight of the body is in the left heel. Core is engaged the entire time. Stay for a few breaths and switch sides.
The art of balance is to sway with the breeze of the wind, rather than against it. With resistance we break, with rhythm we stand strong.
