Q&A POST: SAVOIR FAIRE

Photo 2: a photo sent to me this morning from my assistant lol, my ideal breakfast according to her.

Photo 3: me! to you <3 Soo.. here’s my in-depth answer to the q in photo 1:)

You can always be better than you were yesterday. That is one of the greatest blessings we have- to be able to have a second chance everyday that we wake up! We can all be limitless.. For everyone it’s different- but for me, here are some tips/skills I have subconsciously used and developed for use on a daily basis – and remember ‘Savoir-Fair’, knowing what to do in any situation.

I broke them down into six important categories:

1) Beauty: my morning/night routine is very simple, and it’s less than five minutes long. Simplicity is key. Know your skin type, know what your skincare goals are and use a few products that will take care of that. Slightly switch it up every few months by switching eye creams or moisturizers. Get a cute makeup pouch for key staple beauty items to carry with you wherever you go– always be ready:)

2) Appearance: I pick out my clothes in less than 5 minutes. I can do this very quickly because my wardrobe is minimal and concise. Every single new friend that has ever seen my closet has said the same exact thing to me.. “Wow, I always thought your wardrobe would be much larger”. The key here is knowing what looks good and FEELS right to you and your true style. Shop only when you need to go to an event (I rarely like to go out to social events wearing the same outfit twice- and if I do it is months apart). Every season purchase only a few key items you know you will need. Basics are best, vary it up with color. For special events, use Rent The Runway. Love their efficient service- all businesses should run like them! Again, simplicity is key! A dress should be worn to showcase a woman’s beauty, the star is the woman- not the dress.

3) Mind: Yoga + exercise at least 4 times a week, bi-weekly therapy sessions even if you don’t believe you are stressed and especially if you live in NY. Eat clean, nutritionally beneficial foods. And, we all need to do this more: SMILE.

4) Body: Feel good from workouts to look good! Your inner self shines through when you glow health from the inside!

5) Work: work smart AND hard, stay focused, define specific goals with dates. Always, visualize the big picture.

6) People: it’s simple, always spread your sparkle. My Typical Weekday: Wake up at 7:30am, get ready + leave at 8am. Blog! Get to work (social media director at a high-fashion luxury agency in New York). Go to yoga or do cardio at Equinox in the afternoon, one-hour of exertion relaxation. I typically leave work at 6. Ray picks me up either from work or the gym (I go twice a day sometimes). We then go have a low-key dinner. If there are any events that come up they are usually spontaneous so I have an extra dress in the car- and I’m in heels 99% of the time so I can be ready for anything. Whatever time we get home is our own individual alone time for however long ‘til bedtime. This is when I work on Sunina- edit my video/respond to questions/logistics for the next shoot, etc. I like to shower and be in bed by midnight! I need more sleep so it should really be 11! So all in all, efficiency and simplicity is key! Eat fruits and your green juice, only shop when you NEED to, and don’t forget to bring your sparkle wherever you go. FYI– I am not perfect, and I do not claim to be! The point here is to be better than you were yesterday, and to strive to live by your own standards of excellence- and hopefully continue to lift up your standards as you expand your threshold! Keep the questions coming- love them! Have an amazing weekend, and sign up for my newsletter for a preview of next weeks topic. XO:)

Loved the serenity of shooting & working out at the beach- especially with a team that is driven enough to wake up so early in the morning to grind with me! I can’t be happier and more thankful for a team like mine.

We each woke up at around 5am to drive to Robert Moses Beach in Long Island, NY. The scenic drive was gorgeous. One thing I love about my team is how fast we work- preparation is key!

Ron’s definitely got the hang of how fast I like to go through each fit move- we usually get it in two takes. He also corrects my form here and there while we shoot, which is fantastic. He’s like my mirror.

Cyril has been my #1 videographer and friend since we met at a fashion show at 1 Oak in NYC years ago. We usually get into crazy deep conversations about random life wonders while we shoot cute footage, ha.

I just started working with Sophie- she is like a little sister who likes to dress you up. Her eclectic taste opens my eyes to all the other trendier possibilities I could have. I’m so basic and I only stick to a few things I know and love. But, I appreciate the fairy-like sparkle she brings into my life when we shoot!

Love my team!!!!!!!!! xo

Happy Friday! Have an amazing weekend + subscribe to my newsletter for a preview of next week’s fit focus! xo

Working out is only like 4% of my day-  and I can’t say it’s always fun. But taking pics, trying on hats, and spending quality work time with my stylist Sophie is FUN- and fun is healthy! x Happy Tuesday.

A slight bit late, but I’m on the hunt for some more big and SOFT sweaters- can’t stand an itchy sweater. This one is from Topshop.

Seasons change, and my taste in how short my dress can be, or what colors I feel like wearing is in constant rotation. Sometimes I’m in an all-black everything mood. And other times I’ve stayed in my forever Hello Kitty mood, pink & pastels for everything. LBD’s though are a never fail wardrobe piece for most occasions.

This particular one in the photo is definitely a bit more risqué than the norm xx

This was supposed to be my Sunday post- but had food coma and lots of nap-time this weekend!! Happy Choo-suk to all the Koreans x

Finished editing my first video so that will be up very soon— just need to figure out YouTube account credential drama. Can’t remember my passwords emails to my old account! Yikes to the YouTube newbie.

Anyway the weekend was girlicious, and everything I expected it to be.

Photo: My hostess outfit – The ombré dress I never got to wear over the summer xo & the only boy allowed at my party, my puppy Colonel. Cute style quote from a girlfriend: “When hosting at home, wear a maxi.” True!

Stopped into the Japanese consignment shop, Tokio7, in the East Village before dinner at Cafe 81 with Ray. Some pretty finds of mine included two summer dresses, and an oversized pair of Oliver Peoples sunglasses. I also had to get the hot pink naked baby they keep in bins by the register- impulse purchase! x

The pouring rain didn’t stop us girls from making an entrance at a NYC nightclub one misty summer night! We arrived in a limo, and truly made the night ours. The girls were gorgeous, and Kim & I found even more girls to perform on-the-spot mini-makeovers on in the VIP area. Photo: Checking the mirror at a styling party I hosted at Image Powerhouse over the summer.

Ah, hosting! Love it. Can’t wait for the next one especially since it will be for FNO! Light hair, lashes from the lash bar, and Fall skincare tips will be the focus of the night. Plus of course a photo shoot/ instaprint to take home.

I am in full blown organizational mode at the moment and can’t wait to solidify the details of the night with the Image Powerhouse team. So, details to follow:)

Fashion’s Night Out is on Thursday, September 6th 2012.

This adorable little Kitty Purse Holder was a spontaneous gift from mom, love!

How often have you run into the (first world) problem of not having space for your bag at a restaurant? No bag deserves to be shoved in a corner or jammed between your lap/dining table.. or worse, left on the floor(!) Mothers are true problem solvers.

Just a morning thought- how cute would it be if every designer bag came with a matching purse holder? Yes.
