3 SIMPLE WAYS HOW TO UPLIFT YOURSELF FROM A WINTER RUT

 It is February, right at the heart of winter in New York. Some winter months I tend to get a wave of unmotivated energy – any one else out there? It is the month that I have to pump up my self-care: pump up my meditation & yoga, work out efficiently (thank you SLT), pay special attention to how and what I eat, and take extra special care of my dry skin.

Here are 3 simple steps to unwinding out of your, dare I say, rut:

Come back to your center: meditate, do yoga, eat clean. Do lots of yoga positions that are uplifting the heart (upward facing dog). When you repeatedly remind yourself of your truth, and when you count all your blessings a rut is impossible.

Get your energy back: for extroverts, surrounding yourself with a lot of friends re-energizes you. For introverts, surrounding yourself with a few that you love is just enough, and mostly quiet time to recharge your energy is what you need.

Wake up earlier: when you are in a rut, you tend to wake later, start your day later, and it becomes a downward spiral of rushing through the day when you have things to do. Start your day earlier and have ample time for the things you want to accomplish for the day.

3 THINGS I LEARNED IN THE PHILIPPINES

IMG_2833 I am back! One day before leaving for the Philippines my husband and I moved into a new apartment (not stressful at all:). The next day we took a 14 hour flight to 80 degrees and sun. We spent 3 weeks in the Philippines, and a few days in LA to close up our holiday. Probably the longest vacation I’ve ever taken! Here are a few things I picked up during my time away..

Don’t Rush. I tend to rush everywhere, blame the New Yorker in me! Sometimes I stop and realize that rushing and multi-tasking actually slows me down. And whats even more tragic is that I don’t enjoy the process because I am too busy thinking about what I have to do next, or where I have to be. It wasn’t any specific situation or person but it was just the energy and vibes of the people as a whole in the Philippines that was just so chill. Responses were thoughtful and slow.

Observe more than I speak. This has a lot to do with just being present as well. Observing before I take action. Listening more than you speak, so that when it is time to respond you response with grace and clarity.

And last, appreciate someone (or people) exactly as they are, and watch them transform into the best version of themselves. How empowered do you feel when someone just understands, and acknowledges you in your own light without judgement. It is a beautiful feeling of acceptance.

Lately, back in New York and back to teaching (how I missed it!) I find myself slowing down no matter how mundane or exciting the task. I consume myself in the process of whatever it is that I am doing and really try and get 100% focused on it. Nothing like a 3 week vacation to get you back into perspective;)

MANIFEST DESIRES – 2 OF 3

The Law of Detachment to me is the most important part of manifesting your desires. You completely let go of the attachment to the outcome or results of your desires.

You still keep your intention and desires in mind and heart but you let go of your clenching attachment to the outcome.

There are many reasons for this. One of which is that when you have tunnel vision with just one outcome you are missing the possible grander paths that was meant for you. Second, you may be missing out on opportunities that actually lead you to your desires because you are stuck on your ways. Your way is not the only way. And third, when you are attached it is basically a testament of your personal disbelief to your wishes coming true. When you are holding on tightly you are not trusting the divine process. And when you don’t believe in the reality of your desires, you don’t attract those desires.

You don’t give up your intention or your desire. But you do give up your attachment to the result. Attachment to them creates suffering. And why suffer? Unhealthy attachments to people, places, things, cause us to live in a constant state of false control and fear that we might lose the object of our desire.

Let go, just be, believe- and work for it! Don’t forget action is a major part of manifesting:) Don’t wait for anything, work for it and let it come to you.

BE YOU, BE BRIGHT.

What an amazing feeling when you can share your passion and be authentically you. Self-discovery, and the major shift that you may experience is an out of the world experience that you want to share with the world. Some people take years, some people never reach that point. But if and when you do, you want to share this positive shift in every way you can.

My passion is wellness, inner beauty care and outer beauty care, meditation, beautiful imagery, speaking and teaching, uplifting others. When I post, I post because I genuinely have a message to share. If the intention of the photos you post are not fear-based (out of insecurity, for validation), and it is a passion that you love to express, and there is a joy you want to share with others, then do it!

Real talk: While discussing my career, a friend recently said to me, “What are you doing? What are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to be a celebrity? Then just say so, be honest!”. Now these were spoken in the form of questions, but I heard them as statements because they felt accusatory and I felt it cheapened my pure intentions. And with everything circulating right now with the news of the Instagram star that shut out social media- Essena, it is a subject that all of us who have a presence on social media, have to consider, what is our intention?

If your intention is coming from a place of ego, for likes, for validation, to become ‘insta-famous’, then yes- you should re-evalutate how you look at yourself and your self worth. What is your self-concept, how is your esteem level? Is your fleeting confidence coming from the validation you get from likes?

It is refreshing to see a young girl sharing this major shift in her life. The way she is sharing it is powerful. However, I like to emphasize in the fact that everyones journey is unique and different. Everyone is coming from a different place and from a different experience. So to snap judge a person and their intentions may not be so fair, maybe step back and realize there is some inner work that needs to be done. We need to take responsibility for our emotions.

Although I was annoyed with the comment from my friend about trying to be a ‘celebrity’, I accepted her statement as a way to reflect on my daily intentions and to watch carefully how I post and to reflect on what I have been posting. My clear intention is to cleanse, inspire, and uplift. What it all comes down to is that, I have a message to share and I do that the best way I can. I am thankful for the reflection, and I know that this caring friend was only speaking from the world that she knows.

We are all doing our best, it is important to know this and to share compassion before judgment. If you see someone that is doing something and you make a judgement, it may be because it is a reflection of how you might be feeling inside yourself. We are all mirrors for each other. How we see the world is how you see yourself. Be gentle with yourself first. And don’t be so quick to judge, especially yourself. We all make the mistakes to come to a realization of what we need to learn to move on to the next level of enlightenment.

BRAGGING VS. BEING

Bragging vs. Being.

Bragging by definition is to ‘talk or write about oneself in a proud or self-impressed way; arrogant talk or manner. Bragging is a verbal kind of showing off.  (Humblebrags included!) We all know someone who does this, have done this, and at some point you may have been guilty of it too. This is a sign of ego getting in the way of truth. Truth does not need to brag. It is when we feel inadequate, insecure, or in need of attention.

Being. Simply being you, the true you that is happy when you are doing what you love is when you naturally shine bright. It is an energy that is so strong that anyone around you can feel it. Being you no matter how insecure it may make others feel is not bragging or showing off, it is simply being you. Playing down abilities, your opinions, your taste, or your talents because you are afraid of making others feel insecure is not of your concern. You are here to 100% be you and to express what you’ve been given to do your work here.

ENERGY FLOWS TO WHERE YOUR ATTENTION GOES

Energy flows to where your attention goes. Surround yourself with good vibrations, good visuals of things you want to attract into your life. Fill your mind space with good clean energy. Look to the sky if the streets are not so pretty, train yourself to find the beauty in all things.

Awareness and attention are vastly different. I can be aware of all of the nasty, unhealthy, unkind happenings in the world but I refuse to place my attention towards it. This would only attract more of it, and towards me and the world. It does not matter who you are you are a magnet. It is your choice what you attract.

And I quote this over and over – this quote that I love by Mother Teresa:

SELF IMPORTANCE VS. SELF CONFIDENCE

There is a deep difference between self-confidence and self-importance. Self-confidence comes from loving yourself, and self-importance comes from exacerbating your ego.

Self-importance is when you say you are better than another in any way: you are more fit, prettier, hotter, you make more money, you have this and that materially. Self-importance is when you create levels in your mind to feed the ego to make it feel better. Self-importance comes from a place of deep insecurity. It is when the mind creates levels in order to create a sense of temporary fulfillment in your place in life. You need validation from outward situations from people or things. Compliments determine your level of “confidence” for the moment. Offensive comments affect you. Self-importance is when you treat certain people differently because they are, in your mind, above or below you.

We are all one, interrelated and connected. No one being is above you, no one being is below you.

Self-confidence FEELS good. There is no competitive spirit in malice. It is about loving yourself so full heartedly, and being so aware of this love that no matter what compliment you receive or what offensive comment you are given- you remain unaffected because you already know your truth. You’ve already come to terms with your flaws and you are well-aware and accept those flaws. You know how to turn those ‘flaws’ into personal strengths for beneficial circumstances. Self-confidence does not compare, it does not boast. It just is. No need to prop yourself up with words or bougie actions. You are enough with your presence alone. Confidence is knowing that there is no one in the world like you, that can express the ideas that you want to express like you. We all have our own collective experiences in life that make us who we are. Embrace that fully.

No one being is superior to you, no one being is inferior to you.

LUXURY IS..

Despite all of the distractions the daily grind gives you, stay on your path. Stay focused inwards. Do not let the petty things, the ego, the material things take over truth. What is real is within you. Look above the petty things and situations, turn ego thoughts into loving thoughts instead, and enjoy the material pleasures for what it is- material. Comfort is a beautiful thing which gives you the platform to carry out your life duties; excess is frivolous and unnecessary. Luxury is elegance. Luxury is not gaudy, excessive, or boastful. Luxury is in the mind. Think about it, your mind can be a landfill.. or it can be heaven.

Get clean with clarity by meditating. Start today. Start with 2 minutes. You don’t need to be a yogi, or have incense while you do it. Just sit and be still, and you are already there.

Who you are, what you do, how you see things should not be clouded by what you are here to do. Stay focused, prioritize self-care, have an amazing week! Happy Monday.

FORGET ME NOT ♡

A look into what I consider my bible: ACIM, a block of text from my lesson this morning:

Let me not forget my function. I would not forget my function, because I would remember my Self. I cannot fulfill my function if I forget it. And unless I fulfilled my function, I will not experience the joy that God intends for me. Suitable specific forms of this idea include:
• Let me not use this to hide my function from me.
• this may threaten my ego, but cannot change my function in any way.

My interpretation from my ACIM reading: You tune back to yourself by staying in touch with your inner world. Remember when you do not feel happy it is a hint that something is off path and you need to reconnect, redirect. Start each day with a grateful heart. Then realize your function, your purpose. Let go of the ego/fear based thoughts and actions. Do what excites you, scares you. That what your next task to do is. We all have a function and a job to fulfill. It is when we feel fulfilled is when we are doing our job. When we feel anxious, lost, tired, fatigued, is when we have not checked in. Our work should make us feel energized, happy, and fulfilled.

Let me not forget my function. ♡

FLATTERY = CRITICISM

Experiencing true self-love means both the flattery and criticism you are sometimes faced with have zero power to shift your self-perception.

You don’t get big in the head over flattery, you don’t get hurt by criticism. You honor yourself and only allow that kind of power be exclusive you.

Here are some tips to find this type of clarity separated into mind, body, beauty sections:

Mind
-Meditate
-Read your favorite books
-Release both good/bad judgement as they come to you.
-Greet the morning by counting blessings

Body
-Do Yoga.
-Eat Clean.
-Eat the gluteus things you love in moderation.
-Have healthy body goals set for yourself.
-Embrace body challenging workouts.

Beauty
-Take care of your skin morning / night.
-Learn and do your own at-home facials.
-Accept your ‘flaws’.
-Highlight your best features with makeup:)
-Enjoy being makeup-less when you want/can.

STAY INSPIRED

Feeling inspired! It’s significant to keep going. You draw up this big plan, and that big plan may not happen right away, but you realize exactly why it doesn’t happen right away: you realize after some time has passed and some of the essential steps and at times leaps have been taken. You take your journey and look back, and you are thankful that things didn’t happen right away. The essential steps are what you needed in order for the things that are happening now to happen, and for you to appreciate it, and for you to be ready for it.

Know your value, never underestimate your talents, and stay focused on your vision.

Feeling blessed and grateful. Trust that life is giving you exactly what you need practice in.

AUTHENTIC SELF

When you are working for a ‘competitive edge’, trying so hard to be different, and plain simply being competitive with another person or a group of people, a business, etc.- you are not working from an authentic place. You are pulling from a place inside you that thinks some people are special and others aren’t. You are thinking levels, instead of acknowledging that no one being is above or below you. You are discrediting your own unique skills and talents.

The fateful excuse of ‘this market is saturated’, only leads to giving up before you’ve even tried. In any market, you will be different if you are working from an authentic place. You will have something completely unique to offer if you are just simply being your authentic self, because there is not one single person in the world that is exactly like you. Not a single person has the exact struggles, accords, familial upbringing, experiences as you do, that make you unique. Every tiny detail you may overlook about yourself are the collection of experiences you’ve had, lessons you’ve learned, that you are expressing everyday in the energy and vibes that you give. No one has the same exact touch, the same exact ideas, the same exact execution as you.

It is not what you do, it is how you do it. Everyone has something unique to offer, and a unique experience to share. Keep going:)

10-DAY WAIST TRAINING + BRIDAL BODY BEAUTY

In 2011, I bought this beautiful corset with boning detail with the full intention to use it as a primary waist-loss (not weight loss 🙂 solution. I did it for a total of 1 hour and never looked at it again. I wasn’t so turned on by how hard it was to get into and how much of an effort waist training is.

Recently, I’ve gotten engaged and I wanted to incorporate some sort of waist training back into my ‘bridal body beauty plan’, so I dug through the lingerie section of my closet and found this at the very bottom- ahhh. So pretty! Now with a renewed perception, and some adjustments I tried waist training again for 10 days. Here is my recent experience and tips:

  • It minimizes your appetite, so you do not overeat.
  • It’s recommended you wear this corset for 4 to 6 hours a day. I opted for 3 a day- much more manageable so I do not have to actually wear it out.
  • Try not have it on too tight to start, keep it slightly tight but not so much so that you feel entrapped (scary feeling if you tend towards feeling claustrophobic!)
  • Get the type of corset that has boning, it is much more structured for a better fit.
  • Waist-training is not a primary source of losing weight or waist:) What really works? SLT! Maybe I am biased but working out is what will get you the results, waist training is a gradual, time-consuming process.
  • You have to be committed to win it! What are your goals? Be precise before you start. Measure yourself. Work out, eat healthy. Waist training is not the primary solution:)

This is not only about how many inches you can lose off your waist or how tiny you can make it. It is about your empowerment as a woman to have the curvatures you love. I was reminded of it when I saw how beautiful, feminine, empowered, and confident CINDERELLA (Lily James) looked in a corseted gown.

In other news, after spending the Winter isolated, I’ve come full circle and was reminded of how grateful I am of EVERYTHING the world has to offer. This includes this once in a lifetime period that I am living in engagement bliss- so I should be sharing my moments and my love for self-care for the mind, body, beauty. I’ve created a hashtag where I will be sharing some of my self-care efforts to feel my best in time for my big day! Very excited, stay in the light xo

SUN SEA & SALT

IMG_8980 We hear so much about how the sun is damaging, hide from the sun, etc. etc! Then Winter in New York comes along, and all you can dream about is the sun in your face, and that salt water taste. The cold weather has just as much damaging effects if not more on your mind, body, beauty (skin). I recently went away with my fiancé to Grand Cayman to ‘change the forecast’ last weekend, and WOW. You could FEEL the therapeutic effects and natural remedies of Mother Earth just getting to work on you right away. We are naturally made of what’s found in sea water (magnesium), so when we spend time in it we become balanced in our mind, in how we feel in our bodies, and in the glow of our skin. As soon as I got back home, I hit a few health food stores to get a few things to incorporate into my skincare regimen: 100% pure sea salt, avocados, lemons, manuka honey, and pure aloe.

Here’s one at-home toner I made so that I can spritz at anytime in case I get serious beach nostalgia: mix 4 ounces of warm water with a tablespoon of sea salt. Allow the sea salt to dissipate, then apply to skin as a toner. (I use a container with a pump so its easy to spritz).

HOW TO FIND GRATITUDE, PEACE

Take a pen and paper, and make a list of all the things that make you happy right now. The sky, water, flowers, the air that you breathe, the food that you eat, the water that keeps you hydrated, the blessed life that you live, the one that you’re with, the scents that you smell from your favorite candles, the pets that you love, the kids in your life, the angels that watch over you, freshly squeezed orange juice, caffeine, pizza, love.

Happiness is not something we chase, it is something we have within us and can pull out at anytime. And you achieve it by counting your blessings. Count all the things that are right about this world, and stop paying attention to all the wrong. You are only perpetuating more of the wrong to become your reality. Place your mind at where you want the world to go. Love the world (and yourself) back to health by thinking clean, speaking clean.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU SEE

What do you see? You are what you see. When you see qualities in a person that stand out to you, those are the very qualities that you intrinsically have whether you are aware or not. The very qualities that you find sour, are the very qualities that you’d like to approve on yourself. The next time you make a snap judgement or become aware of someones qualities that you either admire or don’t admire so much, take note and let that be a tool for yourself to self-reflect.

What are some qualities you’ve recently seen in a person or a few people which you love? Name 10. Can you say these are qualities you also have in yourself? If not, what are some ways you can open yourself up to becoming those very qualities you admire.

Here are 10 I’ve recently admired in a few people: a warm smile, humorous, charismatic, good energy, confident voice, passionate in movement, emotionally independent, a leader, kind, effortlessly sexy!

Surround yourself with those that ignite this part of you! That part of you that makes you want to be a brighter you.
