PLANK CROSS

Written by , Posted in Yoga

Plank Cross

The Plank Cross works your abs, obliques, shoulders, and butt.

Here’s how to do the Plank Cross:

Position A: start in plank position with wrists directly beneath shoulders.

Position B: engage abs as you bring your right knee to the left. Return to plank and repeat on opposite side.

Do 30!

Beauty P.S. I am working up the will to cut my hair. Why is hair so emotionally connected to us?? Does it signify that we are yearning for a dramatic change, not only in appearance but in situational circumstances, relationships, or career? Thoughts anyone? Read this good article about the psychology of hair from YouBeauty.

Edit, 1 hour later: and here’s why I’ve already decided against chopping off my hair.. ”I’m thrilled with how my hair looks right now, which, as you all know, is the perfect time to fuck with it and make myself miserable. ” –Babe Walker.

Q&A: NATURAL HAIR

Written by , Posted in Beauty

“How often do you trim/cut your hair to keep it healthy and yet still grow longer?  Why did you stop dying your hair?”

image

I like to trim every 3 months. I started realizing the importance of being healthy at your most natural self.. Dyed hair, eyelash extensions, gel manicures… all of that stopped one day and I’ve been on this ‘beauty cleanse’ for a while now.

Also- dying roots is such an annoying upkeep! My hair has become so healthy, soft, and I rarely need to use any hair products to get it to look the way it does. I’ve been color-free for 3 years now. The tips of my hair are golden and that is the very last trace of my hair-dying days!

Birthdays are so much fun to both plan and attend. Love picking out cakes to perfectly suit the birthday girl/boy, the menus, the venue, what to wear, hair & makeup… just fun!

The picture above was from my life-size Barbie’s birthday dinner in February at Mr. Chow’s. All girls at the table were gorgeous, lively, and.. angelic 😉

Five Birthday [Guest] Beauty Tips:

1) Dress to impress, wear a dress!! It’s a time to celebrate. Wear your highest heels and a poppy lip color. Wear a colorful top if possible or a detailed lace top for ‘table pictures’.

2) Focus on impeccable hair and makeup. You most likely will not have too many photos standing up and will be conversing with guests all night- so look cute.

3) If the birthday girl/boy insists on no gifts, it isn’t necessary but it’s still nice to present a card or a little something special. It’s her/his day!

4) If the host orders for the table, the bill is most likely handled by the host- unless he’s a crazed control freak-foodie! You will know by the invite if you’re expected to pay or not. The biggest hint is if you’re notified of what the menu is like along with your invitation. If so, pay for yourself and a portion of the birthday boy/girls’ bill.

5) The birthday girl/boy should not be handling the cake- someone must take charge! xo

Happy birthday to all, Aquarius + Pisces! It’s been a busy birthday February/March for me, whew!

Halloween idea: Geisha Girl!

The makeup artist, Mia Koo, for my photo shoot with Manhattan Magazine over the weekend was amazing. It was so much fun transforming into a Geisha through makeup, hair, and wardrobe! Thought this would be a great post to get some last minute ideas going for Halloween.

Photo: My make-shift makeup station next to my iMac where I’ve started recording and editing tutorial videos.

Excited to present the next one, its a short follow-up to my last video. I’ve gotten your questions in response to the video about needing more details on how-to apply the blush, names of colors, etc. So all that will be included in the next one. I hope to have that up very soon x

Beauty Inc. magazine was placed on my desk this morning at the agency- just love reading through to discover what’s new!

My personal beauty news of the week isn’t so grand. Just had a sub par facial at Equinox, was lured in with the new member discount which was expiring soon. Will definitely retreat back to my regular facialist in K-town for my next one. Happy Friday/Saturday! x

Love big waves, big hair, big curls. Here are tips straight from hair stylist, Eddie, at Image Powerhouse for Boudoir waves.

What you’ll need for this classic boudoir look: clips, 1 to 1 ½ inch curling iron, and lots and lots of hair spray for long lasting curls!

Eddie sectioned my long ombré hair and curled it one piece at a time.

  • Step 1: Wind small section of hair around the curling iron (make sure to start at the root rather than the tip), and leave it in for 10-15 seconds.
  • Step 2: Release the ringlet, and pin it up with a small clip. Note: make sure to leave your ringlets pinned up as long as possible.
  • Step 3: Once you’re all dressed up and ready to go, release ringlets and apply hair spray, one curl at a time.
  • Step 4: Whip hair around to loosen curls. Don’t worry if the curls look too tight at first, they will naturally loosen.

Tada! Soft beautiful boudoir curls.

OK, ready! Mirror check + hair toss while I smooth out frizz and ensure long-lasting big hair.

Big hair is my usual signature look when going out, it makes me feel super feminine & lush.

I’ve gotten a few voluminous hair questions lately so I’ve composed a few tips..

Three Tips for Smooth Voluminous Hair:
1) Dry Hair – starting with completely dry hair is the standard. Use dry shampoo for clean fresh hair. If your hair isn’t perfectly smooth, use hair serum to smooth out imperfections.
2) Curl Hair – start with a half ponytail and curl iron hair from the bottom layer to the top. Use serum along the way to smooth imperfections.
3) Tease & Fluff – once you’re done curling, flip your hair down, fluff, then whip it back up like Sasha Fierce. Take random sections of your hair and tease with a comb. When you’re just about done, part your hair, serum any imperfections- and you’re ready to go!
