SOOTHING PRENATAL YOGA

Happy December! It is my final month of pregnancy and I am so grateful for my experience thus far that I wanted to share some prenatal yoga movements that have helped maintain and soothe my overall relaxation within the past 9 months!

Here is my personal collection, I call it Soothing Prenatal Yoga Glow, featuring meditation, poses to soothe the lower back, soothe belly weight, relieve tight hips, and soothe the full body.

My latest vlog post coming this Friday 12/2, that’s tomorrow, on YouTube will feature most of the moves here– so stay tuned for that!

PRACTICAL WAYS TO PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Practicing and feeling genuine gratitude attracts more reasons to be grateful. Your blessings multiply. Your perception changes. Your appreciation multiples. The best part is it is not hard to achieve and you can do it for yourself in minutes, even seconds.. Here are a few simple and practical ways to practice gratitude now. 

  1. Keep a journal. Write one or two lines a day, “I am thankful for..” It can be that simple, or it can be a full entry depending on how much you want to elaborate on why you’re thankful each day.  
  2. Read a few pages in that journal to reignite those feelings of gratitude. 
  3. Sit in meditation for a few minutes, with the mantra in mind, it can be a simple mantra, “I am grateful for my breath, which gives me life hope and energy”. 
  4. Keep a few statements of gratitude in the notes section of your iPhone. Read them before you sleep, and once you wake up. End and start your day with gratitude. 
  5. Share only words of gratitude with your friends and family when you see/speak with them. (i.e. Eliminate the habit of gossip). 
  6. Help others, be compassionate, be aware of the news around the world, but don’t allow it to encompass your mind and body out of its peaceful state. You be the peace that the world seeks by your daily actions and loving thoughts. 
  7. Imagine that the things that you want are already in your possession. Whether it’s health, a relationship, a job, anything. Think and talk of it as it is already yours or it is already in the works for you. 
  8. Move your body. Movement and exercise naturally brings feelings of gratitude for your mind and body. It motivates you to do more, be healthy, and clear the mind of cloudy, unnecessary thoughts.

ALL THAT I GIVE IS GIVEN TO ME

Monday mantra today is simple, what your mama always told you- what you give is what you get.    
 All that I give is given to me. When I do more yoga I feel good all around- mind, body, soul. When I meditate, I am more relaxed and I do not react, I just am. When I work out and sweat, I look and feel better. When I eat clean and balanced, I feel lighter and healthier. When I smile more, I get that energy back from the people around me, but multiplied. 

The opportunity is all around you to give, and be given.

SPRING/SUMMER SPF

How do you sunscreen? My SPF routine for the Spring/Summer is different from the Fall/Winter. I wear it all year long but I go a bit extra with it for the Spring/Summer. 

My approach is simple, I use cream first then I carry a spray version to carry around. That way I have my base, and I can spritz throughout the day. Most SPF’s only last 1-2 hours at most. And with sweat, makeup, etc I don’t trust just one base for the day. 

Same with body. I use any SPF for body. But for face, here is what I use:

K-beauty’s Mizon is perfect. The consistency is nice and moisturizing. It’s not greasy, it feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen.

I love the size of this Supergoop spray SPF, easy to carry around. It smells nice, plus packed with antioxidants and rosemary.

ROSEWATER + PIZZA (?)

This post is inspired by the guy who rang me up at juice press in the upper east side the other day. I asked for soup options as I bought my rosewaters and ginger waters, they all sounded great and super healthy but I just said “Nah, no thanks..” He says “are you sure we also have this this…” And kept pressing– haha juice press… So I finally had to admit, “I’m just going to get pizza. Thanks..” With a chuckle he approved. I mean, pizza. 

How I eat for nutrition, body, skin, and sanity.. 

  • Drink lots of fluids, H2O, love all the new additions of waters at Juice Press (aloe, vitamin C, ginger, and especially rose water) 
  • Start your day with something very clean and hydrating. I love an acai bowl or fruit smoothie in the morning. Sometimes it’s just a youthberry tea 
  • I love pizza, I love white rice, and I will have it when I want 😎 
  • I choose fruits for snacks instead of processed foods and if I can go gluten free with snacks, why not? If I am craving potato chips I’ll go for sweet potato chips cooked with coconut oil. 
  • I use coconut oil to cook my foods 
  • I make a lot of my own shakes so I know what goes in it. 

When I crave it, I get it. When you allow a craving to go for a while is when you have a bigger chance of going overboard. 

Yesterday a friend asked me if I have cheat days.. And I guess by assumption you would assume I am extra healthy all the time but really I just enjoy what I love when I want. I don’t feel the need to over eat because I have a healthy relationship with my food. I eat only until I am just under full. So there really isn’t a “cheat day” I would consider everyday a cheat in that case because my day is balanced by what I want and not truly ruled by any strict diet. 

I usually consume nutritious foods because that is naturally what I crave. But if I want Pizza or Taco Bell I will have it.

THE FOUR AGREEMENTS

   Whenever I feel frustrated, impatient, or assuming I track back to the four agreements (Don Miguel Ruiz). I just love the simple statements that bring you back to perspective.

The Four Agreements:

Be impeccable with your word: say what you mean and mean what you say. And if you say you are going to do something, follow through. If it isn’t possible, say it isn’t and be as consise as you can be.

Don’t take anything personally: don’t get offended, don’t misconstrue a message. Don’t worry about others taking your actions personally. Their feelings are not your responsibility. Yours, however are.

Don’t make assumptions: don’t assume someone did something to offend you, or did something to commend you. You never know what someone is going through or what their mindset is like. It could be very different from yours and you just cannot assume what they’re thinking.

Always do your best: whatever your best is at this very moment, that is all you need. There is no need to force what isn’t yet. And being lazy is show of character. So show up for yourself 100%.

In addition, think before you point fingers and blame. In most cases, just because it isn’t your fault doesn’t mean it’s someone else’s. Open your mind, get back into perspective. Loosen up and stop the blame. 😘  so much to be grateful for.

MEDITATION MANTRA: ALL THAT I GIVE..

A beautiful mantra for today, and any day: All that I give is given to myself.

A meditation guideline that I give myself today is the truth that when you give to another you are given the same. It feels good to give- when you are giving good energy you are receiving good energy. When you give bad vibes, it doesn’t feel good at all. It is hard sometimes when you are wrapped up in the petty. So meditate and release the petty and remember that what you give is what you are giving to yourself. Shake off petty. Make room and space in your mind and body for lightness and peace.

LOVE IS LOVE

You can love wholeheartedly without guilt. You don’t have to “unlove” another just because you love one. Levels and comparison create guilt. You can love all without distinguishing a love greater than another. Love freely without restraint, comparison, or judgement. We like to say romantic love, self-love, motherly love, true love etc. but isn’t all love true? Otherwise it isn’t love. There is no category and it is much more simple than we make it out to be. There are no categories or separations, the true kind of love has no separation, distinction, or category- there is just one type of it: love. 

I don’t believe that you have to put anyone ‘first’ in your life, just because you should be loving them the most. This creates guilt. Love freely. Events constantly move, nothing is ever constant so why should someone or something always be placed first, second, third. Why are there levels? Love freely, and let your inner intuition guide you on what to do, how to do in each of your relationships and current situations.

MIND BODY BEAUTY IN MANILA

So I got really comfortable in a city called Bonafacio Global City (BGC) in Manila during my stay. Naturally I found some places for Mind Body Beauty care within the city, here are my recommendations:

Mind

Beyond Yoga at BGC, it’s a clean and simple studio that offers yoga, dance, and aerial yoga. The power yoga class that I took was vigorous and just what I needed. 

Body

Electric Studio at BGC, was blown away at this cycling studio. Such great vibes and good energy emitting from this place. I was not ready for what was coming during my session (did not hydrate properly) so I had to step out and drink some (2 bottles) of water before going back in. I’d like to say I kill’d it, but really it kill’d me:) Amazing music. Amazing instructors. 

Beauty

I went to a spa for a Rosy whitening peel. I stepped out rosy looking and whiter, brighter in complexion. I was left peeling for a few days (looking oh so lovely) but I was able to heal myself with pure coconut oil. Luckily I knew to do this on my own.. as they were not very good with after-care instructions.

MANIFEST DESIRES – 3 OF 3

Desire is the root of all human existence. It is the natural force of attraction that drives you in every moment.

In review, the first step in the manifestation of your desires is to define and call out your desires – allowing awareness. The second is to be detached from the outcome – live freely with an open mind and heart to the vast possibilities and roads that can be taken for your desires to be fulfilled.

And last, hence the final leg of this 3-part series on fulfilling your desires, is action. Sitting still, wishing, and praying are all great. But in order for the manifestations of your desires to become your reality, you must work towards it. I believe that you can work smart and direct energy only towards the activities that are balanced and satisfying to you. Because ultimately those activities that make you happy will naturally lead you in the direction of your desires.

MANIFEST DESIRES – 1 OF 3

We all have desires. What are yours?If you are not happy with the outcome of a certain situation, or maybe your goals are not being met and you’re stuck in a routine- you need a change. What you’re actually stuck on are limiting beliefs on yourself which need to be let go as the first step for change. There are three concepts you need to change your outcome:

  • Awareness – an awareness of your thoughts which lead to your actions. Being present and experiencing the events of your life as it is unfolding. It is when you are aware that you are able to choose your thoughts. When you are present and aware of your thoughts you have the ability to reframe your thoughts, choose another thought. Change your thoughts, which change your action, which lead to a different outcome.
  • Gratitude – gratitude for all that you have, so it multiplies. You must first be grateful for all that you have.
  • A burning desire – you must have a desire, a goal that get you so excited your heart pumps out of your chest for it. What is it that is calling out to you. This is essential, and should never be ignored. Call out your desires.

  1. I am more than a body.

Repeat these throughout the day. Know that you are more than a body. Love this quote: You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.

HOW TO REMAIN CALM IN ANY SOCIAL SITUATION

How to Remain Calm in any situation

  1. Breathe. This will take you back to yourself and out of the situation or thing that is rattling your inner world. Come back home, come back to your breath. The soothing energy you bring in for yourself will calm you down instantly. 
  2. Let ego subside. Instead of thinking me, me, me and how could he/she? Allow the situation to subside just as your ego subsides. The situation is never actually the reason for problem(s). There is always a deeper culprit, and that culprit is usually lack of love and compassion. Compassion will always calm you down, when you think from a place of understanding of why a person or situation is the way that they are. A shift in perception happens when you let the ego-based thoughts go. 
  3. Be aware. Be aware of your surroundings and be aware of your thoughts, actions. When you are living from a place of awareness it is difficult to react out of anger. Being calm is a reaction and will also calm your surroundings, allow time to go slower. 

Finding peace within you first, calmness is truly a quality that takes work. The work is well worth it, as it could save you from mishaps and failures that can be avoided. I love that the outcome can always be yours. It is your choice to be calm or to be chaotic in the mind. All it takes is a breath, love, and awareness. 

Remember, never take anything personally – and we are all doing our best within the wisdom that we have.

I believe that the beauty of a woman is in the way that she carries herself. Supremly confident, but not superior. Shares her dynamic presence not by boasting, but by simply being. She takes the time to take care of herself, both in the mirror and in meditation. Outer self care is not frivolous, it is our divine duty to take care of our skin, our bodies, our essence. To be spiritual does not mean to suppress your goddess self. It means to uncover it, reveal it, embrace it. Take care of your inner self just as much as you do your outer self. Men, do not shy away as this is for you too! We are all emotional beings that can do so much more if we let go of the things that hold us heavy. Self-care is for everyone, and it is an expression of love for yourself.

Connecting with our inner selves is our divine duty. Feeling good is our divine duty. Glowing from the inside out is true beauty.

SIMPLE MEDITATION GUIDE

Step by step meditation guide: 

  1. Grab a line in a spiritual book/ a quote from a thought leader/ one thought you have in your mind, and let it lead your intention for meditation. Example: Truth will correct all errors in my mind. 
  2. If you have incense, grab it and light it up. 
  3. Sit in a comfortable cross-legged seated position. Hands can be on your thighs, at your hearts center, or palm over palm gently over your ankles. 
  4. Simply close your eyes and breathe. 
  5. If this is your first few times it may feel uncomfortable and you might get anxious – stick with it until you get over that point. It is after that point where you will feel calm. Go as long as it feels amazing. Do not worry about timing, whenever you have a beautiful sense of peace come over you vibe with it for a bit. As you gently open your eyes notice the difference you feel after meditation versus before.

Meditation truly is the answer to all of your “problems” and illusions of the mind. All it takes is a shift of perception and a sprinkle of gratitude.
