BEAUTY BENEFITS OF MEDITATION

IMG_0032 IMG_0036

Ally Love (Ally Love Blog) and I had a spa session just in time for our birthdays! (Happy Birthday Ally!) We split it up into two parts: Mediation and Skincare. (The skincare post will be up on Friday). For included meditation into our beauty focused spa session because we know, love, and feel the importance of meditation for our healthy glow. Here is a curated list of what meditation means to us for beauty.

The Beauty Benefits of Meditation:

Slows Aging, as you meditate you bring energy (prana aka life) and fuller breaths into your body. It pumps more oxygen into the places that are tight and weak, it also brings a glow to your skin. You may notice after some time meditating that there is less tension in your face and you can really feel the difference when you are done. Breathing mindfully transforms the tissues and cells in your body. It brightens your complexion and makes you look and feel younger; working that natural glow from the inside out!

Builds Confidence, meditation keeps your mood even and calm, giving you an even keeled demeanor. It can instantly improve your mood and this builds your self-confidence as well. Meditation helps you get to know your true self, and when you know yourself you can only shine bright with confidence.

Healthier Choices, when you make mediation a habit you build your awareness muscle. As that muscle gets stronger you are more in the moment with everyday life which gives you the benefit of making better and healthier choices. It is when we are mindlessly moving through life that we make not so great choices that could effect our health. And, health is not only wealth-  but beauty as well.

xx love and light.

THE FOUR AGREEMENTS

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Mind, Yoga

Whenever I feel frustrated, impatient, or assuming I track back to the four agreements (Don Miguel Ruiz). I just love the simple statements that bring you back to perspective.

The Four Agreements:

Be impeccable with your word: say what you mean and mean what you say. And if you say you are going to do something, follow through. If it isn’t possible, say it isn’t and be as consise as you can be.

Don’t take anything personally: don’t get offended, don’t misconstrue a message. Don’t worry about others taking your actions personally. Their feelings are not your responsibility. Yours, however are.

Don’t make assumptions: don’t assume someone did something to offend you, or did something to commend you. You never know what someone is going through or what their mindset is like. It could be very different from yours and you just cannot assume what they’re thinking.

Always do your best: whatever your best is at this very moment, that is all you need. There is no need to force what isn’t yet. And being lazy is show of character. So show up for yourself 100%.

In addition, think before you point fingers and blame. In most cases, just because it isn’t your fault doesn’t mean it’s someone else’s. Open your mind, get back into perspective. Loosen up and stop the blame. 😘  so much to be grateful for.

Happy Friday!

3 SIMPLE WAYS HOW TO UPLIFT YOURSELF FROM A WINTER RUT

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind

IMG_3139

It is February, right at the heart of winter in New York. Some winter months I tend to get a wave of unmotivated energy – any one else out there? It is the month that I have to pump up my self-care: pump up my meditation & yoga, work out efficiently (thank you SLT), pay special attention to how and what I eat, and take extra special care of my dry skin.

Here are 3 simple steps to unwinding out of your, dare I say, rut:

Come back to your center: meditate, do yoga, eat clean. Do lots of yoga positions that are uplifting the heart (upward facing dog). When you repeatedly remind yourself of your truth, and when you count all your blessings a rut is impossible.

Get your energy back: for extroverts, surrounding yourself with a lot of friends re-energizes you. For introverts, surrounding yourself with a few that you love is just enough, and mostly quiet time to recharge your energy is what you need.

Wake up earlier: when you are in a rut, you tend to wake later, start your day later, and it becomes a downward spiral of rushing through the day when you have things to do. Start your day earlier and have ample time for the things you want to accomplish for the day.

SIMPLE MEDITATION GUIDE

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind, Yoga

Step by step meditation guide:

  1. Grab a line in a spiritual book/ a quote from a thought leader/ one thought you have in your mind, and let it lead your intention for meditation. Example: Truth will correct all errors in my mind.
  2. If you have incense, grab it and light it up.
  3. Sit in a comfortable cross-legged seated position. Hands can be on your thighs, at your hearts center, or palm over palm gently over your ankles.
  4. Simply close your eyes and breathe.
  5. If this is your first few times it may feel uncomfortable and you might get anxious – stick with it until you get over that point. It is after that point where you will feel calm. Go as long as it feels amazing. Do not worry about timing, whenever you have a beautiful sense of peace come over you vibe with it for a bit. As you gently open your eyes notice the difference you feel after meditation versus before.

My step-by- step meditation this morning is on snapchat: @suninayoung

Meditation truly is the answer to all of your “problems” and illusions of the mind. All it takes is a shift of perception and a sprinkle of gratitude.

LUXURY IS..

Written by , Posted in Beauty, Clarity, Happiness, Inner Purity, Mind, Self-Care

IMG_9606

Despite all of the distractions the daily grind gives you, stay on your path. Stay focused inwards. Do not let the petty things, the ego, the material things take over truth. What is real is within you. Look above the petty things and situations, turn ego thoughts into loving thoughts instead, and enjoy the material pleasures for what it is- material. Comfort is a beautiful thing which gives you the platform to carry out your life duties; excess is frivolous and unnecessary. Luxury is elegance. Luxury is not gaudy, excessive, or boastful. Luxury is in the mind. Think about it, your mind can be a landfill.. or it can be heaven.

Get clean with clarity by meditating. Start today. Start with 2 minutes. You don’t need to be a yogi, or have incense while you do it. Just sit and be still, and you are already there.

Who you are, what you do, how you see things should not be clouded by what you are here to do. Stay focused, prioritize self-care, have an amazing week! Happy Monday.

FORGET ME NOT ♡

Written by , Posted in Happiness, Self-Care

IMG_7112.JPG
A look into what I consider my bible: ACIM, a block of text from my lesson this morning:

Let me not forget my function. I would not forget my function, because I would remember my Self. I cannot fulfill my function if I forget it. And unless I fulfilled my function, I will not experience the joy that God intends for me. Suitable specific forms of this idea include:
• Let me not use this to hide my function from me.
• this may threaten my ego, but cannot change my function in any way.

My interpretation from my ACIM reading: You tune back to yourself by staying in touch with your inner world. Remember when you do not feel happy it is a hint that something is off path and you need to reconnect, redirect. Start each day with a grateful heart. Then realize your function, your purpose. Let go of the ego/fear based thoughts and actions. Do what excites you, scares you. That what your next task to do is. We all have a function and a job to fulfill. It is when we feel fulfilled is when we are doing our job. When we feel anxious, lost, tired, fatigued, is when we have not checked in. Our work should make us feel energized, happy, and fulfilled.

Let me not forget my function. ♡

WE ARE ONE

Written by , Posted in Happiness, Reflection, Sunina, Work, Yoga

What an inspiring night tonight was! A class full of energy ready to do yoga. My mantra tonight was ‘We are one’. A meditation to clear out the ego to start the class set the mood for moving meditation just right.

Tonight felt like one of those nights where there was a shift, another level I felt in my heart that I reached as a teacher not because of how many, or who was in class but because of the truth I felt in the words I was expressing. It was authentically me.

We are one. Letting go of the ego releases us from an individual/selfish state of mind and into a ‘We’ + loving state of mind. Knowing that there is no color, no race, no creed, no gender that makes us different, we are all the same, with the same heart. When we have a blocked energy because of ego, we are not giving, we are closed. When we have a closed heart we do not want to love, to learn, to understand, to be compassionate. Release the ego and you’ll find your truest form uncovered- which is the purity of your giving nature, the true nature of you. By raising your thoughts, your vibrations, being kind to yourself and to others you are creating peace in your world and influencing peace upon others just by your presence and influence. Share your light <3

The teacher in me honors the teacher in you. May there be many more classes with the high vibration of energy like there was tonight. So grateful for all of my students who I am inspired by.

I LOVE YOU, FALL

It’s a beautiful life! I’ve always loved the summer, and never really noticed the beauty of Fall until I was fully immersed in it this past weekend with my best friend. Now that we are fully in Fall many things may already be in full swing for you as it is for me.

I’ve 100% focused in my work, I feel so blessed to be in the business of body:) and wedding planning! I’ve slowly started to get more and more involved. I have to stop myself when I keep thinking, ‘omg so cheesy’. Because really it’s not and although I’ve always been uncomfortable expressing love that is really all I want to stand for.. is love and light! Even though the NY in me kind of cringes at all the frills, I have to be honest.. this is going to be an incredible journey.

How to Have an Incredible Journey (in anything you do):
1) Get rid of excuses. You are the only one stopping yourself from everything that is possible for you.
2) Release control of the things and people you cannot control. Everyone has their own mind. What will be will be.
3) You can have it all, don’t be so limited. Be open. Open up the mind and the heart and you will realize your want for ‘all’ is not actually that much.. We sometimes think we need more than we actually do. In the end, simplicity is king.

3 WAYS TO A HEALTHY IMAGINATION

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind

4 yoga 055 Sunina 03711

Here are three things to never do when you are working towards manifestation. Work on your imagination!

#1 Never place your head in any thoughts/scenarios you would not want to materialize. AKA stop worrying. Like if you love scuba diving, stop thinking about sharks lurking around ready to eat you. All you are doing is attracting a higher probability of it happening to you.

#2 Never contaminate your thoughts by limiting yourself to what you are used to or how things used to be like. You are then automatically placing yourself and your potential reality into a box which never really changes or evolves. Therefore, keeping you in the same place. Change your story- change your imagination.

#3 Never allow someone else’s ideals be placed into your imagination. Like, maybe when you were younger your parents wanted you to be a certain way and so they plant seeds in your head to be a doctor or something. Or your gf/bf, spouse says you should be doing this/that.. say ok, alright. And then do what you want, imagine what you want.

PEACE STARTS WITH ME

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind

sunina_clouds The greatest challenge is to constantly stay inspired. Are you always looking for the next thing? Rather than stopping, looking, and being grateful for everything that is happening right now? We definitely need moments in our day where we just stop and appreciate. Being in NY, it’s easy to get caught up in what is next rather than what is now. It is easy to get caught up in mindless drama, catty issues, and the negative little things. Just a moment watching world news reports can whip you back into gratitude. How about appreciating all the positive little things? Your morning coffee that gives you a burst of energy, the priceless smiles you can give to strangers, the breath that you breathe.

Today should be a day to witness all the little things. Sometimes, stop thinking so hard about what’s next. Stop, look up, breathe, appreciate. See the beauty in all things. Pray for world peace, yes.. but know that “Peace starts with me.”

ROCKSTAR: REACH HIGHER

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Inspiration, Love, Mind, Strength, Yoga, You

yoga 212 Sunina 04027

Keep reaching, keep moving, keep dreaming, keep on!

Today’s post is inspired by my PIC, my babe, my fiancé!

“Ever since I was young, his words [Jay-Z] always stood out to me. Kid from Brooklyn who didn’t want to be average. My 8th grade teacher gave me a card for graduation and it said “you were meant for greatness” and I read that and thought “wow she knows my secret” like I was Superman lol. Gotta keep grinding harder, gotta keep getting bigger.. gotta keep doing something. There is no momentum without movement, so keep it moving.”

Cues to reach up higher in Rockstar:

Lift up the toes, activate the core, ground the knuckles down to the ground, lift the hips to the sky, energetic fingertips to touch the sky, engage the glutes, relax the neck & shoulders, drop the crown of the head back, breathe.

4 WAYS TO EMBRACE CHANGE

Written by , Posted in Body, Clarity, Confidence, Happiness, Inspiration, Love, Mind, Strength, Sunina, You

003 Sunina 03566 2271 Sunina 04148

In the wake of Fall, good-bye Summer (LOVE YOU), here are ways to embrace change and move with the seasons. Everyday, every second of every moment change happens. We are not quite the same as we were a year, a month, a week, a minute, and even a second ago. We are constantly changing. To resist is to create tightness, inflexibility in the mind, body. To embrace is to create an open mind, open heart, open abundance.

Here are 4 Ways to Embrace Change:

1) Move your body. Movement inspires a cleansed mind. I always think of working out, stretching, running, whatever it is that you do to sweat– as moving meditation. You are 100% focused on the present moment. Zero room for indecisive regrets, and zero room for worry. Sweat opens up the body, the mind.

2) Eat superfoods. There is something so cleansing about filling yourself up with the good good. We all know the chia seeds, flaxseeds, ginger, salmon, greens– basically anything our vitamix/ninja can chop up– is good for you. But take note of how you feel after filling yourself up with the good, natural stuff vs. heavy fried foods, glutenous foods, sweets, and meats. It’s totally different and the less distraction you have from a heavy body vs. a light and open body, the more you are able to focus and energize yourself for the meaningful. Like money, food is fuel and support! Tools that support you to reach higher, to raise your vibrations.

3) Be unaffected by the good/bad opinions of others. With change comes the opinions of others. There is never neutral, it is either good energy or bad energy. Energy is so strong it can’t even be disguised by words. So whichever it is– whether it is praise or the opposite, be unaffected from the comments/actions. Only you, your inner self can guide you and lead you in the perfect direction.

4) Let go! My friend East took me to an amazing meditation session over the weekend by Donna D’Cruz. Her guided meditation was truly a ‘dip into heaven’, with the super soothing and simple mantra of ‘Let Go”. So effective, and so simple yet we forget. It’s truly about letting go of the old so we can embrace the new. Look forward to the abundance life has to offer you.

Always keep your heart and mind open to new experiences!

xx love & light.

HAND-TO-BIG-TOE POSE

Written by , Posted in Body, Clarity, Confidence, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind, Skin Glow, Strength, Sunina, Yoga

sunina_handtobigtoe

I love including this into my yoga sequence in classes for balance, core engagement, leg strengthening, mind focus, clarity, and a quick confidence boost.

The way to properly execute this pose is to stand up tall, or else you lose balance.

Some tips for Hand-To-Big-Toe Pose:

  1. Open up your shoulders, chest is proud.
  2. Breathe in through your nose, out through your nose.
  3. Standing leg knee is locked.
  4. Lift up the toes of the standing leg.
  5. Your fingers and toes are interlocked tightly.
  6. Core is engaged.
  7. Chin is up – relax the jaw, and maybe even smile!

SWEAT THE BIG THINGS

Written by , Posted in Attractive Energy, Clarity, Confidence, Events, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind, Sunina, Work, Yoga, You

3 yoga sunina face When you start to plan something big, or even something you consider small – you can easily falter into the details, nitty gritty, and stressful parts of planning. You miss the big things! You have to know where you are going before you start going, yea? Whether you are planning career goals, life goals, life events.. here are tips on how to plan, sans stress:

Set the intention, plan, then set it free. Let all things that will be, just be. You’ve done your magic on how you’d like it to be, trust & let the universe go above and beyond.

-Do not stress the details so much. Don’t sweat the small stuff, sweat the big things. All small things will fall into place – without stress!

-Create a long-term vision board, write down short-term + long-term goals, free-write wishes.

-Stay with your self-care routine. Do not let anything get in your way of your ahhh moments. Whether its reading a book, going to the spa, giving yourself a facial, playing with your pups.  You need your time! I say 2 hours a day at least, is just for you <3

-Just hire a professional. Or professionalsss. Clean home, happy home – pay for external peace of mind. Life coaches are everywhere to keep you responsible for your goals, planners, etc. Time is the most valuable asset. Don’t place so much emphasis on $. Money is a tool that you USE. People are out there in your times of need!

HOW TO GET BACK TO BASICS

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind

IMG_7499

Hi! I’m back. Back from vacation and now Back to Basics! We sometimes complicate the simplest of situations with our own self-importance, aka the ego. Everyday you have the choice of either waking up to be bright with a day full of miracles – or you can choose to wake up full of stress with a day full of complaints and struggles. Why even think to choose the latter? Don’t you deserve the very best? When all else fails, simplify! Get back to basics. Don’t point out all the wrongs, point out all the rights, only the best.

How to get back to basics:

Forgive, constantly! Not everyone and everything will go your way. Don’t trip up on angry people, difficult situations. Understand that every individual has a reason for why they are the way they are and then keep it moving. It’s not your job to analyze and criticize. Work on self-reflection so much so that you have no time to criticize others. Forget bad situations, keep it moving.

Be present! Learn to be where you are when you are there. Don’t worry about tomorrow, don’t think about yesterday. What is now in front of you is all that matters, take in every moment.

Spend ample time with nature. What I love about being at the beach (salty hair & flowers in the air!) is that it is so naturally healing. The breeze, the salty water, the open air – all amazing for your mind, body.

Body. Take care of it! There is no shame in taking care of your face, your body, it is the carrier of your soul. Revitalizing your body everyday is so important. Stretch, work out, meditate, get a massage, do an at-home DIY facial. Do what works for you. Stay healthy.

Let go of clutter and noise. A huge part of getting back to basics is to forget the unnecessary. Sometimes, that means giving yourself space from situations or even people who may emotionally drain you, and are energetically negative. Spend time with uplifters, high thinkers, the funny- the best types to be around. “With every encounter, we exchange information and energy, and we come away changed just a little bit.” -Deepak Chopra

Simplify!

xx love & light.

TGIM (THANK GOD IT’S MONDAY): TIME MANAGEMENT + BOUNDARIES

Written by , Posted in Clarity, Happiness, Inspiration, Mind, Sunina, Work

DSC_0177 i DSC_0197 i Two thoughts this afternoon, TIME MANAGEMENT and BOUNDARIES.

First, on boundaries:

“At some point, you make a decision. Boundaries don’t keep other people out. They fence you in. Life is messy. That’s how we’re made. So, you can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them.”

Morning inspiration found on a friend’s instagram post (@ameschin).

Now, on time management:

When ‘lines’ are crossed, and life get’s messy, and you accept — there comes this thing called, OMG I’m so busy! You can either say, “I’m so overwhelmed!” or you can choose to say, “I am so lucky to have all of these opportunities!”. The beauty in this is that you can be choosey with how you manage your time. You can raise your standards, and truly make a quality use of your time. But always do what makes you happy! Don’t waste time on things that don’t. Also, when you are busy, you must raise the bar on your personal self-care as well. Meditate, sauna, spa, massage, get your full 7 to 8 hours of sleep! Eat nutritious super foods, vitamins, hydrate with water, and eat clean! Work out, get your mental on point, always rise above the petty! Look up to the sky, stay inspired. Rise high.

Here are some tips on how to manage your time:

  • Schedule everything in your iPhone calendar, make sure it is hooked up with iCloud! So easy you can see your day/week/month on all your devices, iPad/MacBook, etc.
  • Schedule in self-care time as if it is an important meeting. Just one hour to yourself to meditate, one hour to yourself to take care of your skin or just to sit and breathe. You need that ‘turn down’ time to really allow your mind to effortlessly show you what’s most important.
  • Keep your big projects in mind and don’t be overwhelmed with the big picture thought of it – just do a little bit everyday for whatever it is you are working towards. Let’s say you are a blogger (hehe) do a little bit everyday and you will see in a years time your progress, and when you look back you realize how not so overwhelming it actually was. Oh, and schedule that in also- no matter how little you perceive it to be! It will have that snowball effect, and one day be worth it- trust!

xx Love & light.
